Sunny, warm and dry weather dominates the nearby harvest forecast. Temps will be above normal from this weekend through most of the next 10 days. For the weekend and early next week we see strong evaporation rates, making drying a non-issue for harvest over the coming days. Sunshine dominates.
Our next front shows up late Tuesday evening through Wednesday. Rain shows up after sunset and continues through early to midafternoon Wednesday before ending. Rain totals are not over the top, but we still have to allow for .1”-.5” rain totals over most of Indiana. The map at right below shows likely rainfall totals.
We return to dry weather for Thursday through the start of the weekend with sunshine and temps normal to above normal. Evaporation rates look good, so we do not expect a long term delay in harvest. In fact, we are likely back into corn harvest by Thursday afternoon.
The second half of the weekend we expect a system to be sliding by to our south over the TN valley and Deep south. Clouds and a bit of moisture will likely drift north into Indiana, so Sunday the 30th we have to leave the door open to scattered showers from I-70 southward. Those showers can bring a few hundredths to .4” and 60% coverage from I-70 south. Northern Indiana sees little to no precipitation but may stills ee clouds build late Sunday afternoon and evening. Monday will be dry with a return to sunshine for the last day of the month.
The extended period looks dry to start, with sunshine in control tuesday November 1 on through Thursday. A cold front arrives late that week on the 4th bringing .25”-1” rain potential with 90% coverage. The heavier moisture may skew to the southern half of the state, which is probably a good think given OH river levels. We are dry behind the front for the 5th, 6th and 7th, with temps staying above normal still to finish out the period.
Weeks 3 & 4:
Near normal precipitation in weeks 3 and 4, which means we likely see similar conditions to our extended forecast period with 1 system or front coming through each week. Temps will be above to well above normal right on through late November.
