According to USDA NASS State Statistician Nathaniel Warenski, Indiana farmers are 91% complete with corn harvest and 96% complete with soybeans. Nationally, corn is 93% harvested and soybeans are also at 96%. Both Indiana and national progress are well ahead of the five-year average pace.
Winter wheat planting is also nearing completion in Indiana. 96% of wheat has been planted and 77% of that has emerged. 63% of the Indiana winter wheat crop has been rated good-to-excellent.
Warenski says soil moisture levels increased slightly from the previous week with 50% of topsoil moisture reported as adequate or surplus. Other activities for the week included fall tillage and fertilizer and lime applications.
