Indiana Wheat 93% Planted as Corn, Soybean Harvest Wraps Up

USDA’s Indiana Field Office says winter preparations have now commenced as Hoosier farmers have put a bow on corn and soybean harvest across the state. Nathaniel Warenski, the Indiana state statistician for USDA NASS, also adds that winter wheat emergence approached completion as it continued ahead of its five-year average pace with 62% of the crop rated in good to excellent condition.
In his final crop weather update of 2022, Warenski noted that soil moisture levels increased slightly from the previous report with 53% of topsoil moisture reported as adequate or surplus.
Warenski also thanked the dedicated farmers, Extension educators, FSA County Directors, NRCS Conservation Specialists, and others who supplied the information necessary to complete reports each week.
